Our customer – Andy

Though our client had spent years living in a traditional coastal property, he always dreamed of owning a contemporary home. To create a space that was truly his own, he purchased a piece of nearby land and built the property from the ground up.

What was the brief?

As well as modernity, our client was keen to capture a sense of indoor/outdoor living, and to make the transition from home to garden a seamless one. He worked with a local garden designer to achieve his vision, and Foras was happy to advise on material selection. The aim was modernity and industrial elegance as a consistent theme, though with a playful edge throughout.

Our design solution

Foras Foundation Talc porcelain was chosen due to its industrial pattern working in harmony with the structured garden. It also provided a seamless transition from the polished concrete floor indoors, to the sleek contemporary elegance of the garden. 20mm thick porcelain is strong enough to use as stepping stones, adding a playful touch to the design.
For the bathrooms, industrial elegance was once again the core theme. In the first, warm oak was paired with an aged copper effect tile on the walls and floor, accented with a glass mosaic for intricate detailing, exuding a sense of cleanliness, luxury, and masculinity.
In the second bathroom, a traditional stone wall was the centrepiece; bringing together polished concrete with a distressed finish tile to create a dynamic contrast. The design was enhanced by the use of a raised textured geometric tile in the storage inserts, adding depth and interest to the space.
For the third and last bathroom, the clients opted for a handmade brick tile with a distressed finish, creating a visually arresting focal point. This eye-catching tile was paired with white walls and our Foundation Talc tile on the floor, allowing the striking brick wall to take centre stage.
