Our customer – Paul

With a garden design in hand, our client came to us with a basic idea of what he wanted but needed additional guidance and inspiration. His property had an extensive garden which was laid to lawn and needed to work harder to suit his lifestyle. Builder and Foras trade partner Stuart Calvert recommended that he visit our Stowbridge show gardens.

What was the brief?

The initial design had a square Koi Pond as the focus; however, our customer also wanted an outdoor kitchen and bar area for entertaining, secluded seating pod for remote working, seating close to the house and for this all to complement his stylish motorcycle garage. He also wanted a driveway sett to add interest to the entrance of the property.

Our design solution

To complement the red brick and buff mortar of the house the Foras team advised Avery limestone as this stone has a delicate fossil detail, a warm creamy colour and a characterful tumbled edge. Bullnosed copings from the range were used on the steps as finishing detail and the limestone was also cut to form a worktop for the outdoor bar, with the Avery sett used to clad the outdoor fire surround.

Connecting all the areas and adding visual interest, Foras antique brick paviours were used on the pathways and lower patio. Their texture and tone picked out the colour of the house and contrasted beautifully against the pale Avery.

To complete the project, Foras St. Quentin silver grey setts were used on the driveway. This stone is warm toned and although grey, fits with the warmer materials used in the scheme.
